Hijama

Hijama is a medical procedure where blood is removed from the body via incisions made in the skin. A vacuum "cup" or other suction device is then applied over the incisions in order to remove the blood. This procedure is believed to remove toxins and impurities from the blood and is renowned as a very effective healing method in a number of cultures and communities throughout the world. It is also known as wet cupping and is a common practice in Middle Eastern, Greek and Chinese communities. Detailed information on Hijama can be found in the book Islamic Cupping and Hijamah.
